Macrolane at Nottingam Laser Clinic: what our patients say

June 23rd, 2008 admin

Nottingham Laser Clinic is proud to be pioneering the latest in non-surgical breast augmenting treatments: Macrolane. Dr Dinesh Maini is one of only a handful of surgeons in the UK to be fully trained in the technique. This new treatment involves the injection of Hyaluronic acid, a substance that is already found naturally in the body. Injections can provide lift and a subtle increase in size. Younger, elastic skin with breast tissue more than 1cm thick will see the most effect from the injections. The treatment is ideal for women looking to lift nipples that have come down, or to give an increase of up to one cup size. But don’t just take our word for it – read the testimonials below to find out what our patients have to say:

Your Macrolane questions answered by Nottingham Laser Clinic

May 27th, 2008 admin

Dr Dinesh Maini of Nottingham Laser Clinic is proud to offer patients Macrolane, the new treatment for lifting and enhancing the breasts. If you want subtle results but are wary of going under the knife then Macrolane is the procedure for you, but what exactly is it and what does the treatment involve?

What is Macrolane and has it been used before?
Macrolane Breast Shaping Injections are made from the same substance that your body uses to maintain skin turgor - Hyaluronic Acid, which you may have heard of before. This product has been injected into faces for 10 years as Restylane and Perlane and has now been produced in much purer form with larger particles to allow larger quantities to be injected in to the breast. In fact 9 million doses have been injected into the face with minimal side effects.

How is it different to surgical breast shaping?
Macrolane treatment is performed under local anaesthetic compared to general anaesthetic in surgical procedure. Macrolane has minimal downtime and minimal risk of scarring. Macrolane does not interfere with the results of mammograms which are obstructed by silicone implants. This allows you to have regular checks of your breasts that show all of the tissue. In addition Macrolane injections are designed to give the breast a fullness and subtle reshaping by only one cup size. This is very difficult to do with surgery. Ultimately those breasts that have dropped considerably will need a surgical treatment in order to lift them if that is what the woman desires. Also if a woman wishes to go from an A to a C or a B to a D then Macrolane is not an appropriate treatment for her.

The ultimate success of Macrolane is that a woman can halfway through a procedure check how her breast feels and looks, if she wishes she can easily have more fullness. One cannot do this with surgery.

Do Macrolane injections hurt, and how do they feel?
No, less so than a filling if performed by a skillful operator. The doctor will numb the area with a local anaesthetic before injecting Macrolane. The injected area feels firm for a few days like firm breast tissue as it absorbs water. After a week or two it begins to soften and after a few weeks becomes quite soft and very similar to breast tissue.

How long does Macrolane last?
Macrolane is topped up every year with roughly half the volume that is injected initially. Most people would have 200mls in the first treatment thus have a 100ml top up in 12 months. They would then have a longer period before the next top up, say 14 months and so on.

Is Macrolane safe?
As hyaluronic acid already exists within your body it is not recognized as a foreign substance. Extensive trials over since 2002 have shown no long term issues. Only a handful of doctors have been trained in the UK. Dr Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic is one of the first UK Drs to be fully trained in the technique. We are an established medical aesthetic clinic that takes pride in delivering the most advanced treatments that deliver results. Our personal, patient-centred care is evident from the numerous testimonials we receive on a daily basis.

Macrolane: safe, effective, long-lasting and non-toxic

May 19th, 2008 admin

Nottingham Laser Clinic’s Dr Dinesh Maini can offer safe, effective breast enhancement, without the need for invasive surgery, and without the use of toxins.

American news service CBS reported on Friday that a row had erupted over the use of muscle-relaxing injections for breast lifting by doctors such as ‘Dermatologist to the Stars’ Dr. Patricia Wexler. The theory behind this new use for the ‘dermatological wonder-drug’ is that a temporary, non-invasive breast lift can be achieved by injecting the serum into the pectoralis minor muscle, which helps to pull breasts down. By paralyzing it, it is hoped that this downward pulling will be halted, leaving the rhomboid muscle in the back – which counterweighs the pectoralis minor – unopposed, therefore improving posture and lifting the breasts. However, while many applications of the serum have been approved, injection into the breasts has not been sanctioned by America’s Food & Drug Administration.

According to CBS:

‘Wexler says the effect lasts anywhere between 10 and 12 weeks, though other doctors say it could keep the pec muscle at bay for up to six months. Still, she says the only downside is the cost: between $1,500 and $2,000 for both breasts.

“I think it’s something you wouldn’t do on a regular basis, but if somebody were to have a very special gown that would be very difficult to wear with a bra, and you wanted to have a lift of your breast for that special occasion, this is a very effective way of giving one a lift without any risk or downside,” she says.

But plastic surgeons seem to wholeheartedly disagree with Wexler, who contends that the Botox boob job “doesn’t have the same complications and downside from having a surgical breast lift.”

In fact, it seems the idea of using Botox in the plastic surgery community for anything considered “off-label,” or not approved by the Food & Drug Administration, is grossly unacceptable.

Dr. Anthony Griffin, a prominent Beverly Hills board certified plastic surgeon – who works closely with Allergan, the company that manufactures Botox – fears Wexler’s practices with the drug could have more than just a paralyzing effect on her patients’ pecs.

“This is not an acceptable practice. Nobody has peer-reviewed this and this is something the company has not endorsed,” says Griffin. “She is jeopardizing everybody’s use of Botox. That’s what disturbs me – I like the product. It works, it’s great, but if people start misusing it, they’re gonna pull it off the market.”

What’s more, Griffin, who has frequently appeared on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover,” says injecting Botox into the chest muscles is dangerous.

“Here’s the other thing we know about Botox: it can drift. It can drift around and very often in the face you end up paralyzing the muscles you don’t want to paralyze. I just can’t imagine somebody paralyzing my pec,” he says.

“You’re not gonna be able to do pushups, ski, roll over in bed, all those things that you use your pec for. It weakens that. This is a gimmick.”

Griffin’s gripe grabbed the support of one of New York’s top board certified plastic surgeons in Dr. Stephen Greenberg, who practices in Long Island, N.Y. Greenberg disputes both the effectiveness of the lift and the health risks associated with the injection.

“This is idiotic. I would absolutely recommend against it. It’s just nonsense,” Greenberg says of the procedure. “I think it’s a reach. I think that the complications outweigh by far the potential minimal benefit that you have.”’

This argument seems somewhat odd when considering Macrolane breast enhancing injections. This non-invasive procedure is highly effective, providing not only lift but also enlargement by up to one cup size. Not only that, but Macrolane is also effective to lift and firm buttocks. Effects last considerably longer than the 10-12 weeks referred to above with most patients not needing top-up injections for about 12 months.

Gp Dinesh Maini Nottingham Laser Clinic

May 1st, 2008 admin

GP Dinesh Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic leads the first body shaping treatment using hyaluronic acid.
Nottingham Laser Clinic is the first and only clinic in the Midlands to offer Macrolane, a breakthrough treatment - an injection that makes Breasts/Buttocks bigger and can give volume and lift.

Clinically proven, one simple injection of Macrolane during a short procedure leaves no scarring and there is no need for a general anaesthetic or overnight hospital stay.  The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic in a sterile, clinical environment.  Recovery time is quicker than conventional surgery and the only aftercare required is to get a bigger bra!

Macrolane for breast shaping is indicated for women whom have asymmetry, loss of volume as a result of breast-feeding or weight loss, or under-developed breasts.  Macrolane is particularly suited for women of normal weight wishing to increase by a cup size and seeking increased shape as opposed to breast augmentation.

Macrolane consists of Hyaluronic acid which already exists within your body. Extensive trials since 2002 have shown no long-term issues. Macrolane DOES NOT affect mammograms. Only a handful of doctors have been trained in the UK, Dr Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic is one of the first UK Doctors to be fully trained in the technique www.nottinghamlaserclinic.com

Following the procedure, Macrolane feels firm for a few days like firm breast tissue as it absorbs water, after a week or 2 it begins to soften and after a few weeks becomes quite soft and very similar to breast tissue.

Macrolane is topped up every year with roughly half the volume that is injected initially. Most people would have 200mls in the first treatment thus have a 100ml top up in 12 months. They would then have a longer period before the next top up, say 14 months and so on.

Bigger Results
A lady with a size A cup who would like to go to a B, or from a size B to a C would benefit from Macrolane. Younger elastic skin (25-50years) with breast tissue more than 1cm thick is the best combination and gets the most lift from Macrolane breast shaping injections.

A lady who has nipples that have come down and wishes to have a fullness of the bust when she is wearing an evening dress or a low top will benefit from Macrolane Breast Shaping Injections.

A lady whose nipples point outwards and she would like them to go inwards would benefit from Macrolane Breast Shaping Injections.

GP Dr Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic explains, “Macrolane is an exciting development which offers patients new non-surgical treatment options where previously treatment alternatives have been limited. The great thing with Macrolane is that the patient can sit up during the procedure, look at her breasts and have them a bit fuller if she wishes. One cannot do this with surgery! Clinical experience to date has been encouraging and rewarding as patients have been delighted with the results. Macrolane puts women in control.”

Nottingham Laser Clinic is an established clinic with an international clientele. We work hard to achieve the highest standards and truly believe in giving open, honest advice and patient centered care.
